With your order, you'll get a plastic tote with everything you need to make an exact mold of your teeth and send in for More Dental Lab to create your custom night guard. You should receive two tubs of blue molding putty, two tubs of white molding putty, a large and medium size mold tray, a set of detailed instructions, and a mailer envelope to send the finished mold. The instructions for making the mold are clearly printed in easy-to-follow steps and illustrated to help ensure you take a quality impression of your teeth. At the bottom of the instructions is a return card that you need to fill out so More Dental Labs can match your impression to your order and where you'll also select your preferred night guard material type.

Be sure to read the directions carefully and follow them exactly for best result. Taking the impression only takes a few minutes but there's a few things you should keep in mind. There are two sets of impression blue for taking the impression (one blue and one white for each set), which gives you two tries to get a good mold of your teeth. I selected the extra durable material which is a clear acrylic type plastic. Compared to the night guard from my dentist, it's pretty similar except that it doesn't have the metal posts embedded in it that help it grip your teeth. The More Dental Labs night guard is also a little softer and slightly flexible while being quite dense, whereas the dentist supplied night guard is harder and not flexible at all. I also have here a soft silicone rubber type night guard (dentist supplied) which is a very flexible one but a little thicker than either of the hard versions. While I don't know for sure, I imagine this would be the material used if selecting the "soft" night guard from More Dental Lab. Their "hard" night guard is supposed to use a thinner material.

The new night guard fits perfectly and comes about halfway up the teeth and not up to the gum line. The fit is snug and they don't slide off your teeth at night. They're also pretty comfortable without any pressure points that can cause jaw pain. The night guard works great for protecting your teeth at night from grinding. Overall, the molding process was straight forward and the mold came out really nice with good quality. Turnaround time was about the same as the dentist's office but at a fraction of the price.
